A delegation from NCVC participated in the International Rangeland Congress held in Australia, alongside a distinguished group of scientists, experts, and decision-makers from around the world.

The congress highlighted the importance of preserving natural rangelands and their role in enhancing biodiversity, participants also discussed mechanisms for rehabilitating degraded sites as a priority within sustainable environmental strategies, strengthening the role of local communities in carbon credit projects, regulating grazing through remote sensing technologies, and utilizing these technologies to support decision making in rangeland rehabilitation efforts.

The NCVC delegation presented two scientific papers highlighting Saudi Arabia’s efforts in protecting ecosystems and enhancing vegetation cover and the presentations addressed the role of protected areas in conserving biodiversity, as well as the shift in grazing patterns in Saudi Arabia at the end of the 20th century topics that drew strong engagement and interest from participants and research institutions.

Moving forwared, the NCVC delegation took part in a field visit to the Adelaide Botanic Garden, where they were briefed on the latest practices in managing mother seed fields and their related supply chains, the visit aimed to deepen knowledge related to seed production and the conservation of plant genetic resources, the delegation also participated in a number of specialized workshops and visited advanced research and development centers in the fields of agriculture and rangelands, contributing to the exchange of international expertise and experiences on sustainable solutions to environmental challenges.

NCVC is committed to developing, protecting, and preserving vegetation cover sites, rehabilitating degraded areas, and restoring biodiversity in natural ecosystems, NCVC also oversees the management and sustainable use of rangelands, forests, and national parks, additionally, it plays a key role in detecting violations against vegetation cover, combating illegal logging across Saudi Arabia, and conserving natural resources and biodiversity.
