Established by the decision
of the Council of Ministers


National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification was established by the decision of the Council of Ministers. The Council of Ministers issued decision number 417 on 19/07/1440H to establish the center. The establishment of the center aims to oversee the management and investment of grazing lands, forests, national parks, and to preserve the plant genetic resources and vegetative cover outside the protected areas in the Kingdom in all its environments, as well as combating desertification.






Main Responsibilities

The role of the National Center for Vegetation Cover Development is based on seven main responsibilities, which are:

Supporting the Achievement of Vision 2030


National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification Combating seeks to implement the strategic goals of the Kingdom, as embodied in Vision 2030. It contributes to improving the standard of living by reducing environmentally polluted areas and rehabilitating them. It also focuses on developing environmental protection from natural hazards, enhancing prevention of insects and pests harmful to vegetative cover, developing national capacities for protection, and developing the Kingdom's living resources while ensuring sustainable utilization.
