The National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification (NCVC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with King Salman Energy Park “SPARK” to strengthen joint cooperation in two ecological and wildlife parks and to support greening initiatives across various shared sites. The partnership aims to contribute to the objectives of the Saudi Green Initiative and promote sustainable environmental development.
Under the MoU, the two parties will collaborate on several projects, including the greening of the Gunan Oasis Wildlife Park and the SPARK Environmental Park, as well as other designated areas. The cooperation will also include conducting necessary studies, enhancing sites with suitable vegetation cover, and identifying native tree and plant species appropriate to the characteristics of each location.
The signing of this agreement reflects NCVC’s ongoing efforts to foster strategic partnerships with government entities, private sector organizations, and non-profit institutions. These collaborations support national initiatives focused on rehabilitating degraded lands, expanding green spaces, combating desertification, curbing sand encroachment, and preserving natural resources, all in support of the Saudi Green Initiative and the vision of a greener, more vibrant environment.
NCVC remains committed to protecting, monitoring, and rehabilitating vegetation sites across the Kingdom. It also works to identify violations, combat illegal logging, supervise rangeland management and grazing governance, and oversee the protection and sustainable investment of forests and national parks. Through its diverse programs and initiatives, the NCVC actively contributes to climate change mitigation and global carbon emission reduction, reinforcing environmentally and economically sustainable development in line with national priorities.
