The National Center for Vegetation Development and Combatting Desertification, in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture, the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Saudi Arabia, will hold a workshop from August 26 to 28 in Riyadh. The workshop will focus on "Monitoring Land Productivity Dynamics and Trends in Organic Carbon Stocks in Soil in Arid Regions," with participation from several international experts.

This workshop is part of Saudi Arabia's ongoing efforts to address desertification and drought and mitigate their impacts on the environment and society. It is also in preparation for COP 16, which will be hosted in Riyadh in December. The conference will discuss various topics related to land degradation and organic carbon storage in arid lands.

The Center is dedicated to developing, protecting, and supervising vegetation sites across the Kingdom, rehabilitating degraded areas, detecting violations, combating illegal logging, and overseeing rangelands, forests, and national parks. This work supports sustainable development and contributes to the goals of the Saudi Green Initiative.
