The National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification (NCVC) has launched a digital service for issuing grazing permits via Nabati platform. This initiative is part of the NCVC’s efforts to streamline procedures, promote digital transformation, and align with its vision to empower and support local communities while enhancing the sustainable use of natural rangelands.
Dr. Mishal bin Abdulaziz Al-Harbi, Director General of the General Department of Natural Rangelands at NCVC, highlighted the many advantages of the new digital grazing permit service. He noted that the service offers a fast, fully online application and issuance process, eliminating the need to visit NCVC branches. It also features automated verification of environmental and regulatory requirements in accordance with approved standards and is integrated with geographic data platforms and environmental information systems to help ensure the sustainable management of rangelands.
The launch coincides with NCVC’s broader initiative to permit grazing in natural rangelands and forest areas across selected regions of Saudi Arabia. This initiative is being implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, and several relevant entities, as part of efforts to strike a balance between utilizing natural resources and preserving the environment.
These efforts aim to meet the needs of livestock breeders and ensure the availability of natural forage resources for livestock, while promoting the sustainability of rangelands and protecting wildlife habitats. The initiative contributes to biodiversity conservation and environmental sustainability.
Regulating grazing plays a vital role in preserving and sustaining vegetation cover by preventing unregulated grazing, which can lead to rangeland degradation, soil erosion, and the decline of plant diversity. It also supports the rehabilitation and productivity of degraded rangelands, strengthens the livestock sector, and enhances food security.
NCVC continues its mission to develop, protect, and conserve vegetation sites, rehabilitate degraded areas, and restore biodiversity in natural ecosystems. The NCVC also supervises the management and sustainable investment of rangelands, forests, and national parks, detects violations affecting vegetation cover, combats illegal logging across Saudi Arabia, and safeguards natural resources and biodiversity.
