About the location
Saiysad National Park, established in 1999, is named after the historic Saiysad Dam, built by order of the first Umayyad Caliph, Muawiyah bin Abi Sufyan. The dam, which stands to this day in its original form, undergoes regular maintenance to preserve its structure and historical significance.
