Investment in Vegetation Cover

Economic Value and Environmental Returns

Vegetation-covered areas abound with a diversity of assets and services, offering investment opportunities that aim to achieve both environmental and economic sustainability. At a time when pressure on natural resources is growing, partnering with the private sector emerges as a fundamental, long-term option for sustaining life on Earth by building bridges of promising opportunities that enhance development and maximize the benefits of natural wealth. This, in turn, contributes to the goals of the Saudi Green Initiative and reinforces the Kingdom’s role as a leading destination for nature tourism, both domestically and internationally.

What Is Investment in Vegetation Cover?

It takes the form of initiatives by investors, whether private companies, government entities, or others, to establish investment projects on vegetation assets, or to collaborate in delivering their services sustainably, thereby generating both environmental and economic returns. Examples include afforestation projects, establishment of nurseries and seed banks, management of national parks, forests and rangelands, and investment in innovative greening, protection, and eco-tourism solutions.

How to Invest in Vegetation Cover?

1.

The NCVC, based on its own studies lands suitable for investment in vegetation cover, defines the appropriate investment types and services for private-sector participation, and then publishes these opportunities to investors via formal channels such as the Foras platform.

2.

Investment entities submit applications to lease a site or privatize a service, or pursue any other regulated investment model, each request specifying the exact timeframe, location, and scope of activities.

3.

After completing the tendering and contracting procedures, the Center issues investment licences that precisely match the pre-identified sites and agreed investment types.
