The General Department of Monitoring and Protection is responsible for the preservation of vegetation cover and its protection from harmful practices and natural risks. This is achieved through deploying the center's protection patrols, ensuring safety in parks, forests, and vegetation-covered lands, and coordinating with relevant authorities to enforce environmental regulations and apprehend violators. These efforts aim to achieve the objectives of sustainable environmental development and mitigate the effects of drought and sand encroachment.
Mandates:
Build and enhance personnel's capacity to monitor and protect vegetation cover, and develop their deployment and distribution plans.
Implement electronic monitoring of vegetation cover violations, particularly illegal logging.
Prepare projects that contribute to protecting and monitoring vegetation cover, along with inspection and monitoring reports.
Conduct awareness workshops on the importance of preserving vegetation cover and the negative consequences of environmental violations.
Supervise fire prevention efforts in vegetation-covered lands.
Investigate complaints and reports related to violations in vegetation-covered areas.
Coordinate with relevant authorities to apprehend violators of environmental regulations and their executive bylaws.
